The standards behind the schedule

Under EC.02.04.01 (or the equivalent DNV NIAHO Physical Environment standard), deemed-status hospitals maintain a written inventory of all medical equipment. Under EC.02.04.03, high-risk equipment carries 100% scheduled maintenance completion, scored pass/fail with no partial credit. Both assume you can find the device. Forager keeps the location record current as a byproduct of work your techs already do, and captures a photo of the asset tag at scan time: evidence of physical presence, not just that a barcode was read.

Running an Alternate Equipment Maintenance program under ยง482.41(c)(2)? You've documented your own intervals and bound yourself to them. Self-imposed deadlines are still surveyable deadlines, and the CMS surveyor tag for equipment maintenance findings (A-0724) doesn't care whose schedule you missed. AEM doesn't cover everything, either: critical equipment, all imaging and radiologic equipment, equipment governed by other federal or state law, and new equipment without maintenance history stay excluded regardless of your program.
